Cold Packs

Many strange and immediately working techniques are used in first aid treatments. in these techniques there’s another method which is used to create the soothing effect on some swelling or inflammation and sometimes this technique is also used in relieving one’s self.

It is the usage of cold pack in the place where some inflammation or swelling has occurred because using the instant cold pack can reduce the sensational effect and it gives the relief to the affected area of the body. There’s another type of the pack which also comfort body in the situation of the pain it is called hot pack and some packs have the quality of functioning as both i.e. hot and cold pack together. The hot cold pack can serve as cold pack in certain occasions and when necessary it is also used as hot pack basically it depends upon the making of the hot cold pack.

If you’re first aid trainee then you should know about the first aid hot and cold pack and how to make a hot cold pack because it is very important to know for such an important job. That’s why you must have awareness of using the hot and cold packs in different situations according to the situation.

There’s a variety of cold pack, you may use cold ice pack or some other type basically the cold pack becomes a heat-retainer and the timing varies according to its size and chemicals used in a cold pack. When you want to use it you’ve to shake it or hit it so that it start functioning in fact the cold pack chemicals break the cold pack ice and it starts an endothermic process so that heat can be absorbed and then you put it on some inflammation or some swelling which is a good way and a good therapeutic technique for such injuries.

The timing i.e. the working duration of a particular cold pack is highly dependent on the components of cold pack. That’s why the circulating cold pack doesn’t work for a very long duration because the components used in it are not very rich. Now companies are making some cold packs which can work even for a longer period of time thanks to the modern developments and new inventions in the field of medicine and science. The timing can vary according to a particular design and the chemicals used in the cold packs. Usually it can be from 20 minutes to 2 or 3 hours or in some cases even more.

There are some cold packs which are specifically designed for a particular task or for a particular area of the injured body. For example you can find the superior orthopedis cold pack and baxter cold pack.

Now with new techniques such changes have been made that some packs can be used as both i.e. they can work as a cold pack or they can also function as a hot pack because of the chemicals used in them. You just have to put them into microwave to make them hot pack or in your refrigerator for making them cold pack.

In these packs different things are used to retain heat or to absorb heat it depends upon their usage. They are used to relief from the pain, muscle aches or other injuries. You can also find packs for some particular area of the body which are especially designed for that part of the body for example you can get from the market the cervical cold pack and what it does? It is clear from its name so I need not to explain its function.

You should remember when thing about cold or hot packs that they are not only helpful in promoting recovery but they are also easy to use that is another plus point about using the cold pack.
