Applying and understanding the first aid procedures is very important because a first aid responder or an emergency responder should have some basic skills to apply first aid procedure to anyone and these key skills include the treatment of breathing, bones and bleeding. There are some procedures which are more complex and they can be applied only the first aid experts an ordinary individual can not apply and use such procedures like usage of Automated External Defibrillators.
The most common procedures are learned by almost all the individual with normal course of life due to little injuries which we might face, for example a little scratch, or wound from some friction. And it is a common practice even for almost little children to know how to apply bandages on little cuts. These are the basic first aid procedures which are learnt with the passage of time. Whereas the basic procedures which are taught in the first aid training are related to three basic things, which are also called the basic aims for first aid to be dealt with. They are treatment which should be given to the breathing in case of emergency.
The second important point in first aid which is taught is to deal with the blood problems which may be caused with some accident i.e. bleeding is another aim in first aid. So that the victim may promote recovery and further chances of injury can be decreased. In some cases it is proved to be life saving.
You can learn these things within 3 to 5 days depending upon the training scenarios of various first aid organizations. They’d also teach you about first aid kit policies and procedures and their draw backs in certain cases. Moreover it is a very good thing to learn about these procedures because they can be used in some situations which might occur suddenly, for example, an old man getting a cardiac arrest. Now in this case the first aid responder can perform the procedure of CPR which might be life saving for that particular victim of cardiac arrest.
The third important area in which first aid training is provided and first aid procedures are taught are the first aid procedures broken bones, which treat those situations in which someone has got fracture in his/bone and he has not get the proper medical aid yet. In this case providing first aid is very useful because it relaxes the person and reduces the pain of the fracture. That’s why these three procedures are also known all over the world as 3 B’s i.e. Bleeding, Breathing, and Bones procedures.
Usually the first aid procedures are performed with almost no or very little equipment except for those who are providing the first aid to some workplace on professional basis. But there’s a question which arises in minds that is, “what are the first aid procedures of a fracture?” So it should be kept in mind that first aid procedures for fractures may differ according to the situation. Sometimes the person is need to make arm slings and sometimes he need to keep the affected area in such a situation where the victim feels the relief. There is not a single procedure which is applied in first aid. Different victims are treated with different first aid procedures.
Many countries provide first aid training and they teach the basic first aid. Usually it is dependent upon the course length that how much a person has learned about the first aid. These trainings may vary from 8 hours to 5 days. Famous organizations like Red Cross also offer such trainings and they teach the first aid procedures in their courses. The qualification certificates are also issued to the successful trainees.
